Hawaii is known as the place to go for sun and beach, but it is much more than that. The place is fill with rich culture and history that may not be talked about in vacation promotions or advertisements. Did you know Hawaii use to be a place with a monarchy before? Guess you didn't see that coming huh? There were two monarchs that governed from this palace, King Kalākaua and Queen Liliʻuokalani. However, the building was used as the capitol building for the Provisional Government, Republic, Territory, after the monarchy was overthrown in 1893.

Some pictures taken from the USS Arizona Memorial :
The USS Arizona Memorial is to commemorate the death of marines and sailors of the USS Arizona during the tragic attack of Pearl Harbor, O'ahu by the Japanese imperial forces. The attack on Pearl Harbor and the island of O'ahu was the action that led to the United States' direct involvement in World War II. The memorial was dedicated in 1962.
Of course there is the typical side of sun and beach in Hawaii, but you can do different sea sports in different beaches. Some are just for a good sun bathing session while others are good for riding waves, snorkeling and greet ocean creatures.
